The striking Ctenanthe is a plant originally found in tropical Central and South America. The plant is related to Calathea, and has the same nice characteristic of pulling up its leaves in the evening. This means that you see the nice striped top of the leaf during the day, and when it gets dark the nice purple bottom. So don’t be surprised if you hear some rustling in the evening, these are leaves that slide past each other!
- Place the plant in a light place, but not in direct sunshine.
- Keeps the soil slightly moist; do not allow the soil to dry out. Give small amounts of water regularly rather than a lot at a time. In the summer once a week, in the winter once every 2 weeks.
- Give Ctenanthe a little food every month.
