To enhance and protect the timber, James utilises Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban)—a traditional Japanese method of charring wet or dry wood. By slightly scorching the outer surface, a deep, protective carbon layer is formed, making the timber naturally resistant to water, pests, and fire while striking a dramatic visual profile.
