James has a rare knack for bringing the raw energy of the wilderness into your home.
Each of these striking wilderness vases is sculpted from responsibly sourced local Black Wattle. To enhance and protect the timber, James utilises Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban)—a traditional Japanese method of charring wet or dry wood. By slightly scorching the outer surface, a deep, protective carbon layer is formed, making the timber naturally resistant to water, pests, and fire while striking a dramatic visual profile.
Crafted in the rugged south of Tasmania, these pieces carry the true spirit of the wilds. Because they are kept as natural as possible, no two vases are ever identical. Some feature living moss and lichen that may gently fall away over time, marking the beautiful evolution of a completely unique, living art piece.
